Our Political Home
Our Political Home is an interactive storytelling program that connects traditions of African storytelling to Black LGBTQ and GNC communities across NYC. This program intends to expose colonial narratives that have condoned violence through erasure, and carve space for new, restorative narratives told by us, to us, for us.
Dreams of the Diaspora*: Marwa + Mikelina invite you to "Dreams of the Diaspora" -- a mixer for queer communities of the East African diaspora.
*Postponed for 2022

Fragile Democrcay
Our current democracy is fragile. Institutional powers have polarized our politics, pitted communities against each other and profited off of our information. Regardless if you live in a red, blue or purple state, what matters is what’s at stake. Together, we have the power to create imminent, lasting change through timely action.
Join us in this virtual event and get out the vote initiative. We’ve partnered with six womxn+ filmmakers, plus grassroots organizations and colleges around the country to increase voter turnout for the 2020 general election. Together, we can actualize a reality that protects the most vulnerable communities and fortifies our democracy for future generations of Americans.

Planting Yams
Artists, activists, and members of the Peace is Loud Speakers Bureau Sonya Renee Taylor and Mona Haydar discuss joy, especially Black joy, as an act of resistance.
Wondering, “what’s up with the yams?” Many folks don’t know that yams aren’t grown from seeds like most other vegetables. Instead, they start as slips, which sprout out of living, adult yams. In other words, they derive their being from something alive. So while we collectively call for the destruction of systems of oppression, we must also uncover what’s still alive and worth growing, starting with nurturing our own joy and self-care. Moderated by Brenda Salgado, an expert in Indigenous healing, this free virtual event focused on how we as activists can care for our physical, mental, and emotional well being so we can live for the cause and the better future we envision.
